Introduction
HackAcademy.org is an international group promoting learning-through-making. It is a program of SchoolFactory.org, a USA 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded in 2002.
The School Factory provides fiscal sponsorship and operational support for about 50 organizations around the world that operate spaces and programs that transform learning, with a focus on creativity, constructivism, and project-based learning.
HackAcademy’s hypothesis is that the current testing driven approach to education is unsuitable to creating the independent-minded, problem-solving workforce necessary to support the innovative society of tomorrow.
HackAcademy.org supports hackerspaces around the world and open source systems to create peer-to-peer, self-organized learning groups; where the students are also teachers in charge of their own learning environment. With our international partners, we help participants harness their imagination and creativity and learn about teamwork, entrepreneurship, and technology.
HackAcademy.org objectives are:

Promote learning-through-making”;
-
Support hackers-in-residence exchanges financially and logistically;
-
Support new and existing Hackerspaces;
-
Plan, develop, organize and deliver workshops;
-
Create a new learning curriculum based on creative commons licensed content, OpenSource software and OpenHardware material.
In furtherance of the above objectives, the organization may raise and distribute funds to support directly organizations and individuals internationally that support the objectives of HackAcademy.org, develop systems to manage its activities, create and localize content to local markets.
